Fence Installation
Wood, vinyl, and wrought iron fencing — privacy, security, and property definition built to last in the Inland Empire climate and comply with your HOA requirements.
Fencing in Riverside, CA
A fence is one of the most practical improvements you can make to your property, but only when it is built correctly for the conditions it will face. In the Inland Empire, that means dealing with expansive clay soils that shift and heave, Santa Ana winds that can gust over 60 miles per hour, extreme UV exposure that degrades materials faster than in coastal climates, and HOA restrictions that dictate everything from height and material to exact color shades. A fence that does not account for these factors will lean, warp, rot, or blow over — often within a few years of installation.
BPP Construction has been building fences across Riverside and San Bernardino counties for 35 years. We build wood privacy fences, vinyl fencing, wrought iron fencing, and combination fence systems that pair materials for function and aesthetics. Every fence we install starts with properly set posts — the single most important factor in fence longevity. Posts set in concrete footings at the correct depth, with proper drainage at the base to prevent moisture retention, create the structural foundation that keeps a fence straight and plumb for decades.
We serve homeowners throughout the Inland Empire, including Riverside, Corona, Moreno Valley, Eastvale, Chino Hills, and Upland. Whether you need a full perimeter fence for a new property, replacement of an aging fence that is leaning and falling apart, or a specific section for pool enclosure, pet containment, or privacy screening, BPP Construction builds it to last.
Choose the Right Fence for Your Property
Wood Fencing
The most popular fencing material in the Inland Empire for good reason — wood provides complete privacy, natural warmth, and design flexibility at a competitive price point. We build dog-ear, board-on-board, tongue-and-groove, and custom wood fence designs using cedar, redwood, and pressure-treated pine. Board-on-board construction eliminates gaps between pickets for true privacy while allowing airflow that reduces wind load. We recommend cedar or redwood for fence rails and posts in the Inland Empire because they resist decay and insect damage without chemical treatment.
Vinyl Fencing
Vinyl fencing requires virtually no maintenance — no painting, staining, or sealing — and will not rot, warp, or be damaged by insects. Modern vinyl fence products are engineered to resist UV degradation and maintain their color and structural integrity in the Inland Empire’s harsh sun. We install privacy panels, semi-privacy styles, picket fences, and ranch rail in white, tan, and other colors. Vinyl costs more upfront than wood but saves significantly on maintenance over the fence’s lifespan. We use commercial-grade vinyl products with reinforced posts for wind resistance.
Wrought Iron Fencing
Wrought iron and ornamental steel fencing provides security and property definition without blocking sight lines — ideal for front yards, pool enclosures, and properties where HOA rules limit solid fencing. We install tubular steel and wrought iron panels with properly welded connections, powder-coated finishes for corrosion resistance, and post caps that prevent water intrusion into hollow posts. Pool enclosures require self-closing, self-latching gates with latches at 54 inches per California building code.
HOA-Compliant Fence Installation
Many Inland Empire neighborhoods — particularly those in Eastvale, Chino Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Murrieta, and Menifee — are governed by homeowner associations with strict fence requirements. HOA rules commonly dictate maximum fence height, permitted materials, approved colors, setback distances from sidewalks and property lines, and whether the “good side” faces outward. Some HOAs require architectural review committee approval before fence installation can begin.
BPP Construction works within HOA requirements on every project. We review your CC&Rs and architectural guidelines before proposing a fence design, ensure the submitted plans meet all HOA specifications, and build exactly to the approved design. When HOA rules conflict with what you want, we help you find solutions that satisfy the association’s requirements while still meeting your functional needs for privacy, security, or pet containment.
We also navigate local municipal fence codes, which cover maximum height (typically six feet for side and rear yards, three to four feet for front yards in most Riverside-area jurisdictions), setback requirements from property lines and sidewalks, and sight-line restrictions near driveways and intersections. Fences that exceed height limits or encroach on setbacks can result in code violations and mandatory removal — an expensive mistake that proper planning prevents.
Fence Installation Done Right
Survey & Planning
We verify property lines, check HOA requirements and local fence codes, identify underground utilities with a USA locate request, assess soil conditions and grading, and design a fence layout that meets your functional needs while complying with all applicable rules and restrictions.
Post Setting
Posts are set in concrete footings at a depth of one-third the total post length — typically 24 to 30 inches for a six-foot fence. Post holes are belled at the bottom for stability in expansive soils. Concrete is crowned above grade to shed water away from the post. Posts are set plumb, aligned with string lines, and allowed to cure before framing begins.
Framing & Finish
Rails are attached to posts with proper fasteners and spacing. Pickets, panels, or infill material is installed with consistent alignment and spacing. Gates are hung with heavy-duty hinges and self-closing hardware where required. The finished fence is inspected for plumb, alignment, and proper gate operation before we consider the project complete.
Fences Built for Inland Empire Wind
Santa Ana wind events regularly produce gusts exceeding 60 miles per hour in the Inland Empire — and solid privacy fences act as sails that catch every gust. Fences that are not engineered for wind loads lean, break loose from posts, or blow over entirely. After every major wind event, BPP Construction receives calls from homeowners whose fences failed because they were built with inadequate post depth, undersized posts, or insufficient concrete at the base.
We build fences to resist the wind loads they will actually face. This means deeper post holes — a minimum of 24 inches, deeper in sandy or loose soil — with concrete footings that provide a mass anchor against wind forces. For solid privacy fences in wind-exposed locations, we use 4×6 posts instead of standard 4×4 posts for additional structural rigidity. Board-on-board construction allows airflow through the fence while maintaining privacy, significantly reducing the wind load compared to solid panel construction.
UV exposure is the other major weather factor for fences in the Inland Empire. Cedar and redwood resist UV degradation naturally, but even these premium species benefit from a UV-blocking stain or sealer applied after installation and reapplied every three to five years. Pressure-treated pine requires staining or painting for UV protection. Vinyl and wrought iron with powder-coat finishes provide built-in UV resistance. We advise every client on the maintenance requirements of their chosen material so there are no surprises after installation.
